Ms. Whitney Chelnik devotes her practice exclusively to family law matters including divorce, custody and parenting time, child support, alimony, equitable distribution of assets, business valuation, post-judgment disputes as well as divorce mediation and arbitration.
Whitney approaches each matter with the goal of achieving a comprehensive, creative, and cost-effective resolution. She regularly draws upon her extensive experience in both litigation and alternative dispute resolution to help achieve each client’s individual goals.
Prior to joining the firm, she acquired significant commercial litigation experience including serving on the trial team for the defense in NAACP v. AcuSport, et al., a suit named by the National Law Journal as one of the most significant defense verdicts of 2003. Additionally, Whitney is trained as an accredited family law mediator and regularly serves in the role of mediator for both private and court-appointed divorce mediations. She is included on the rosters of Mediators for Economic Aspects of Family Cases in multiple counties and serves on Early Settlement Panels for the Essex County, Union County and Morris County Superior Courts. Whitney has also been appointed by courts to serve as Guardian ad Litem and Custody Neutral Family Specialist. In addition to her extensive litigation experience, Whitney is trained as a Collaborative Law attorney.
